Jay Prentice is the manager and merchandiser for Spotlight Fashionz.  Jay has always been the innovative type, but never in her wildest dreams did she imagine being a part of a project like Spotlight Fashionz. A truly distinctive dwelling giving Maui's Fashionista's and Fashionister's a place shop! 

Spotlight Fashionz is a trendy, contemporary clothing store located in the Maui Mall.  This boutique specializes in the most modern fashions seen in the hottest magazines and on music videos.  Clothing labels like Baby Phat, Apple Bottoms, Akademiks, Phat Farm, Rocawear, Lowrider, Joker and Pelle Pelle line the walls.  Unlike most clothing stores, Spotlight Fashionz takes a huge step forward by carrying designer wear in plus sizes.  Now the plus size shopper can enjoy labels such as Baby Phat, Apple Bottoms, or Big Daddy.  Within the colorful walls of Spotlight, a shopper will find men and women’s size’s ranging from 0 up to 60. 

Heading the design team, Jay allowed her creative energy to explode.  Her vision was to help bring fresh fashions to Maui without losing the island feel. Having a familiar vibe in the store would make shoppers feel comfortable enough to experiment with new and fun outfits.  The color scheme played a major role.  Using an earthly element that surrounds us daily on our beautiful island, Jay decided to draw from water.  Blue is the color of sky as well as sea, has a calming effect, and is associated with stability.  To create a balance, orange became the contrasting color.  The color of orange combines the energy of red and the happiness of yellow.  Orange is associated with sunshine and the tropics.  It represents determination, attraction, success and strength along with endurance.  These two colors are used to make the logo and the shopping bags eye-catching and extremely noticeable.  Also, the garments in the store are arranged by color. This gives the store a sense of fluidity.
